Chapter Fifty-Three:

Her phone vibrates, threatening to topple off onto the tiled floor below as she steps out of the shower. Leah sneers at the latest message from Stuart. He must’ve seen her recent snap that she put as her story, asking who was heading out tonight. It is a Friday night, after all. She clicks out of the app, getting that small satisfaction that he’ll see she was online and didn’t open his message. He deserves it, anyway.

Crossing her room and putting her phone on charge, she gets to work on her hair and makeup. She’s way too early, she hasn’t even had her dinner yet. Pretty sure some of the girls aren’t even back from their classes. But she likes being able to take the time to drink instead of frantically rushing to get everything done, like the other girls do. Of course, sometimes that means doing errands between the other six rooms, but she doesn’t mind. Anything to make the other girls like her.

She’s fitted in well here, at uni. She really panicked when Sam and her broke up and she remembered she had ticked same-sex living on the accommodation application out of fear of jealousy. She had a small group of friends back home in Leyland. Four other girls who kept themselves to themselves. They dipped in and out of the big boy’s group that Sam was part of. Her other friends fancying his friends. How would she cope in a strange city where she knew no one? And in a flat full of girls? She was sure arguments and bitchiness would catch on. But so far, all of them had made really good friends with one another. She isn’t overly close with Frankie, both finding it hard to make awkward small talk if they’re alone in the kitchen together, but apart from that she’s surprised at how easily she’s adapted.

She glances at the screen of her phone as it lights up halfway through curling her hair. Him again. Stuart.

‘You not speaking today?’

She grimaces again. The boy really does have no shame. Thinks with his dick. No, she’ll make sure to put loads of pictures up. Just to annoy him. Show him she’s having the best time without him. Even find some random boy to get a photo with. Make him jealous. Yeah… That’s what she’ll do, she thinks as she smirks putting on her lip gloss. Tonight will be an interesting night.
